Richard Sherman, and why he’s one of my favorite people right now.

Sure, you might remember Richard Sherman as the “asshole” who said he’s the best cornerback in the league a couple seasons ago. People were pretty upset with him. But I always thought well if you’re winning the Super Bowl with your team then you have every right to say you’re the best since technically you are for the year. Anyways! What he’s doing now really made me proud of him.
A website used his picture to promote rioting acts by the Black Lives Matter movement. He was not pleased with it and he took the time to write a huge paragraph to the people who made it. In it he talks about how he has worked hard his whole life and he made himself what he is today. He talks about America being a great place for anyone to start out and become whoever they want and everyone has that choice. My favorite piece was this quote,

No one owes you anything stand proud as a person of color , and do something meaningful with your life

“No one owes you anything, stand proud as a person of color and do something meaningful with your life.”
And this should resonate with everyone. All lives matter. But as long as you do what you want to do and can be proud of yourself at the end of the day, maybe you shouldn’t worry about what other people are doing. And maybe just maybe you don’t need to hate on other people while you’re trying to make yourself the best you you can be.
No one owes you anything stand proud as a person of color , and do something meaningful with your life

NFL Week 2

Week 2 is off to a great start, Broncos defeated the chiefs in Kansas City, advancing to 2-0 and move the Chiefs down to 1-1. Although the 1st quarter was generally uneventful both teams made up for it in the second with 14 points each. In the fourth quarter Manning passed to Sanders completing a touchdown. After a fumble by the Kansas City Chiefs Roby was able to return it and score a touchdown to finish the game strong, 31-24.

This weekends interesting games will be Detroit at Minnesota and Seattle at Green Bay. Detroit and Minnesota are NFC North rivals and will always put on a fairly decent game as long as both teams don’t suck it up. Seattle at Green Bay is a bitter new rivalry after losing to them in the playoffs last year, in possibly one of the worst games in history.

What games are you excited for this weekend? Sound off in the comments below and let’s chat about it.

Countdown to MNF

weve had a pretty great start to the football season so far and I can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow night. New England took home the win on Thursday, and it wasn’t totally over clouded by the Deflate Gate scandal. However anyone who watched the Miss America pageant tonight saw the newest Miss America, Betty Cantrell, admit that she thinks if there was Any question about the inflation of the ball then yes Tom Brady is a cheater.. What a shock! Rams beat Seattle in overtime, an exciting start to the season. Packers beat the Bears in Chicago. Seattle will go on to play the Packers next week. Dolphins won. Texans lost but JJ Watt had a great game and I think that validated my prediction. Broncos won, we knew they would. Terrell Slugs of the Ravens tore his Achilles and will be out all season.
Bengals beat the Raiders, proving me wrong that the Raiders would actually try this season. Guess they’re fighting for the number one draft pick next year. We will see what happens. Jets beat the Browns. Titans dominated against the Buccaneers. Both teams with Rookie quarterbacks making this a world record game. Marcus Mariota proved why he was picked first and Jameis Winston truly looked like a rookie.  Probably because he spent most of his senior season involved in rape allegations. Cowboys squeaked out the win against the Giants in Dallas. Dez Bryant suffered a foot fracture, requiring surgery, and will be out 4-6 weeks. Panthers beat the Jaguars. Chargers managed to pull out the win against Detroit and you can say I’m surprised. Cardinals beat the Saints and they showed that they hope to have a strong season once again. I just ultimately hope they can finish better than they did last year.
Tomorrow we have Eagles at Falcons, my vote is still for the Eagles. Then we have Vikings at 49ers. I’m still hoping for the 49ers, although the everyone’s hopes are high in Teddy Bridgewater and the forecast is for the Vikings to be the best team in the NFC North. I am anxious to see what happens.

NFL Week 1

Football is back in full force this week. Anyone who’s not excited is lying, this is probably one of the best weeks of the year, right next to Christmas. Tonight is Steelers at Patriots, which is probably the most dramatic game we will have all year as Tom Brady steps into the game newly released from his “suspension” that didn’t really happen. It might be one of the most watched games this year and I can’t wait to see how the Patriots team handles this come back. I only hope for a great game from both teams and some serious sportsmanship because we need it, as fans, and the NFL needs it too. The Patriots are the strong favorite as Super Bowl Champs so I am sure it will be a good game.

On Sunday we have Colts at Bills, my vote is for the Colts. They are going to be coming in strong to make up for their terrible loss in the playoffs last year. We have Packers at Bears which, in my opinion, is the best game of the season. My vote is for Packers, despite the loss of Jordy Nelson, I think they are a strong team and will be able to pull out the win against the Bears in Chicago. We also have Chiefs at Texans and Panthers at Jaguars. If I had to place bets I would vote Texans and Panthers. I think JJ Watt is a phenomenal player and a great person all around and I would like to see him pull out the win with his team. Browns at Jets, not really looking forward to this game but my vote is for the Jets.

Seahwawks at Rams will be an interesting game. Rams were a weak team last year and Seattle was strong, however Rams pulled out the win in their game last season and it will be interesting to see what they do in this game. The Rams tend to play harder against teams in their division and I think they might pull out the win this game. Although the Seahawks are coming off the worst play in history of ever and are going to be trying to make up for it as the season starts. They need to do something so spectacular that it makes us forget about that Super Bowl.

Dolphins at Redskins, not much to say here, we will just have to wait and see. Saints at Cardinals will be a good game. Cardinals are coming off a great year that ended with so many injuries. I really hope they can do just as great this year and hopefully make it even further than last season.Lions at Chargers, I think the Lions will pull out the win. Ravens at Broncos, I think the Broncos will dominate this game. Bengals at Raiders. The Raiders are coming off one of the worst seasons in their history and I think they will be coming in hard to make up for it. Because they are in their hometown I think they will be able to pull out the win, or at least put up a good fight. Titans at Buccaneers, Giants at Cowboys, I think the Cowboys will win but I am secretly rooting for the Giants to pull the upset in Dallas.

Eagles at Falcons and Vikings at 49ers both finish out week 1 on Monday night. I think the Eagles will win in Atlanta and I think San Francisco will dominate in Minnesota. I can’t wait to see what actually happens and how my picks stood up. Do you see anything I am missing? Do you agree or disagree? Let me know in the comments below and I can’t wait to discuss what happens this weekend!

Super Bowl XLIX

The New England Patriots pushed through controversy and defeated the Seattle Seahawks last night.

The game came down to the final :20 seconds and Seattle looked as if they had the win. An unfortunate play call led to possibly the most dramatic Super Bowl finish ever, with Russell Wilson attempting a touch down pass at the .5 yard line. This was intercepted by Butler and the game was pretty much over, yet the Patriots were nice enough to give the Seahawks a tiny chance at redemption, which fell short of anything exciting. Emotions were intense and fights broke out in the end zone resulting in Bruce Irvin, Seattle Seahawks linebacker, being ejected from the game for punching Rob Gronkowski, tight end of the New England Patriots. The New England Patriots came out on top with a score of 28-24.

Earlier in the week the Patriots were accused of deflating 11 of the 12 game balls in the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots beat the Colts 45-7 but still people wanted to know if the balls were really deflated. The NFL has since issued an apology to the Patriots for accusing them of “deflate gate”.

Super Bowl 49 far surpassed last years Super Bowl in which the Seahawks stomped the Denver Broncos 43-8.

Exhilarating? Life-Changing? How would you describe your first game?

Whatever sport you’re into, or may be you’re into them all, how would you describe your first game experience? For me, I love football, I love other sports too but football has always been and will always be my true love. Ever since I was a baby my dad would sit me in front of the TV and we would watch football all day. These are things you grow up to truly cherish and memories you can’t forget. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you watch a great game. The rushing of the players and the defeating tackles, the mere seconds of anxiety slowly tearing through you as the ball soars toward the end zone. Whether your team wins or loses it’s always a great day for football. I remember my first, and sadly only, NFL game, like it was yesterday. I remember the drive there, filled with anticipation and eagerness, waiting to see my favorite people in person, the Green Bay Packers. I grew up in Arizona and they were here to play the Cardinals. The excitement was so thick you could have tasted it from miles away. Every person there made an impact on me, strangers tail gating and sharing times that would soon become just a wonderful memory. The Packers would unfortunately go on to lose that day, but my faith in them only grew, my love for them only grew. After the game I had the chance to meet several of the players and get my new cheese head signed. This was by far the most exciting, exhilarating moment as I was meeting who I may interview one day in the future. Would you describe your first game as one of the best days of your life? I would! It changed me forever, made me want to pursue a career in sports, a career following something I love so dearly. To some it’s just football, to me it’s a way of life.

Cardinals Draft 2014

The Cardinals are always in need of good players and they seem to do the worst draft picking EVER. NFL analysts said the Cardinals needed cornerbacks, safeties, offensive lineman, linebackers and a quarterback, which is definitely all true, and the Cardinals unfortunately only drafted the safety and the quarterback. They chose Logan Thomas from Virginia Tech as their QB. He is taller than most quarterbacks and can easily throw over everyone. He also is the only QB prospect that was able to throw the ball 60mph. He plays well, and the Cardinals and fans can hope that he will be the next Russell Wilson or Colin Kaepernick, especially since those are direct rivals and are doing really well.

They also chose Deone Bucannon from the Saints are their strong safety. A good choice for the Cards, he is quick and a good size for a safety, although he has trouble recovering, but hopefully as he grows with the Cardinals and the NFL he will improve over time.

They picked a few wide receivers, John Brown and Walt Powell. John Brown is quite small and this may be a disadvantage for the Cards, but he plays well and is quick and will be a great back up for Fitzgerald. Walt Powell suffered a foot injury towards the end of 2013 season and was out a few games, will this also be a disadvantage for the Cards? We will have to see this fall.

They chose two defensive ends, Kareem Martin and Ed Stinson and a tight end Troy Niklas. All three great players and great size. Hopefully this year will be better for the Cardinals, especially with such a tough rivalry in the NFC West.
