NFL Week 1

Football is back in full force this week. Anyone who’s not excited is lying, this is probably one of the best weeks of the year, right next to Christmas. Tonight is Steelers at Patriots, which is probably the most dramatic game we will have all year as Tom Brady steps into the game newly released from his “suspension” that didn’t really happen. It might be one of the most watched games this year and I can’t wait to see how the Patriots team handles this come back. I only hope for a great game from both teams and some serious sportsmanship because we need it, as fans, and the NFL needs it too. The Patriots are the strong favorite as Super Bowl Champs so I am sure it will be a good game.

On Sunday we have Colts at Bills, my vote is for the Colts. They are going to be coming in strong to make up for their terrible loss in the playoffs last year. We have Packers at Bears which, in my opinion, is the best game of the season. My vote is for Packers, despite the loss of Jordy Nelson, I think they are a strong team and will be able to pull out the win against the Bears in Chicago. We also have Chiefs at Texans and Panthers at Jaguars. If I had to place bets I would vote Texans and Panthers. I think JJ Watt is a phenomenal player and a great person all around and I would like to see him pull out the win with his team. Browns at Jets, not really looking forward to this game but my vote is for the Jets.

Seahwawks at Rams will be an interesting game. Rams were a weak team last year and Seattle was strong, however Rams pulled out the win in their game last season and it will be interesting to see what they do in this game. The Rams tend to play harder against teams in their division and I think they might pull out the win this game. Although the Seahawks are coming off the worst play in history of ever and are going to be trying to make up for it as the season starts. They need to do something so spectacular that it makes us forget about that Super Bowl.

Dolphins at Redskins, not much to say here, we will just have to wait and see. Saints at Cardinals will be a good game. Cardinals are coming off a great year that ended with so many injuries. I really hope they can do just as great this year and hopefully make it even further than last season.Lions at Chargers, I think the Lions will pull out the win. Ravens at Broncos, I think the Broncos will dominate this game. Bengals at Raiders. The Raiders are coming off one of the worst seasons in their history and I think they will be coming in hard to make up for it. Because they are in their hometown I think they will be able to pull out the win, or at least put up a good fight. Titans at Buccaneers, Giants at Cowboys, I think the Cowboys will win but I am secretly rooting for the Giants to pull the upset in Dallas.

Eagles at Falcons and Vikings at 49ers both finish out week 1 on Monday night. I think the Eagles will win in Atlanta and I think San Francisco will dominate in Minnesota. I can’t wait to see what actually happens and how my picks stood up. Do you see anything I am missing? Do you agree or disagree? Let me know in the comments below and I can’t wait to discuss what happens this weekend!

Exhilarating? Life-Changing? How would you describe your first game?

Whatever sport you’re into, or may be you’re into them all, how would you describe your first game experience? For me, I love football, I love other sports too but football has always been and will always be my true love. Ever since I was a baby my dad would sit me in front of the TV and we would watch football all day. These are things you grow up to truly cherish and memories you can’t forget. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you watch a great game. The rushing of the players and the defeating tackles, the mere seconds of anxiety slowly tearing through you as the ball soars toward the end zone. Whether your team wins or loses it’s always a great day for football. I remember my first, and sadly only, NFL game, like it was yesterday. I remember the drive there, filled with anticipation and eagerness, waiting to see my favorite people in person, the Green Bay Packers. I grew up in Arizona and they were here to play the Cardinals. The excitement was so thick you could have tasted it from miles away. Every person there made an impact on me, strangers tail gating and sharing times that would soon become just a wonderful memory. The Packers would unfortunately go on to lose that day, but my faith in them only grew, my love for them only grew. After the game I had the chance to meet several of the players and get my new cheese head signed. This was by far the most exciting, exhilarating moment as I was meeting who I may interview one day in the future. Would you describe your first game as one of the best days of your life? I would! It changed me forever, made me want to pursue a career in sports, a career following something I love so dearly. To some it’s just football, to me it’s a way of life.

NFL Draft 2014- Top Picks and Also Some Interesting Thoughts

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, another great prospect gets drafted first overall to the Houston Texans. He is a big guy standing at 6’5″ and weighing in at 266 pounds, but he is able to run quickly and will make a good addition to this teams defensive line. This is great for them because they will have an awesome defensive line this year and can hopefully do as well if not better than they did in 2012.

Johnny Manziel, quarterback at Texas A&M, the highest prospect for the 2014 draft goes to the Cleveland Browns, will this help them win more games? What’s shocking is that he was the 22nd pick after so much speculation over him all year. I think they are still lacking a lot for their team. Regardless of getting a brand new shiny quarterback, you have to have a team that can back him up and catch the ball. We can hope for the Browns that this quarterback is worth it. Also, we can hope that Manziel will put in the work to prove himself, unlike great college quarterbacks before him like Matt Leinart. Where is he anyway? Poor guy can’t stay at one team and after bouncing around year to year from Cardinals to Texans, Raiders to Bills he is now a free agent, in case anybody wants him!

Michael Sam, DE, goes to the Rams and the whole world goes crazy. Honestly who cares about what he does in his personal time. He’s a decent player who tries hard and plays hard during each game. Although the Rams may be worried because Oprah just secured him a documentary of his life outside the Rams. They have agreed to film everywhere except the Rams facility, which may keep his head out of the game.

Ha’Sean Clinton Dix goes to the Packers in the 20th pick overall. He is a good free safety, and he is fast. I think this is a good pick for the Packers, this will help Clay Matthews and Kuhn get some help on the defensive line. The Packers though obviously need a stronger offensive line to protect Aaron Rodger’s from getting sacked eight times in one half and I hope that they found what they are looking for in the rest of the draft.

Plenty of interesting picks this year but these few are the most talked about, and favorites of the draft. I can’t wait until pre-season to see how everyone performs. If you have anything you’d like to add, or anyone you want to chat with me about then comment below! I would love to hear from you!

Discover Orange Bowl

Who watched the Orange Bowl last night?

Ohio State vs Clemson

A game ridiculed by dirty plays and tackles, injured players, and interceptions. Both teams played tough and fought hard. Unfortunately for Ohio State, Clemson defense were prepared for junior Braxton Miller. They almost seemed to know each of his plays ahead of time, and when he threw the ball there was a Tiger there to smash it to the ground. Tahj Boyd played well, throwing for 378 yards, Sammy Watkins set records with 16 catches for 227 yards. Braxton Miller threw for only 234 yards. Ohio State had the chance to win in the last two minutes of the game, but Braxton Miller threw an interception causing Clemson to win 40-35. Coach Meyer, Ohio State, says this loss will sting because they didn’t finish.

Brett Favre: Coming Back?

Many teams this year are desperate for a quarterback. One of these teams is the St. Louis Rams. Just how desperate are they? They chose to call Brett Favre this week and see if he would unretire and come play for them. Unfortunately for the Rams Brett Favre reportedly declined the offer through his agent, Bus Cook. He is currently a volunteer offensive coordinator coach for a high school team in Mississippi.

Whether you like the young quarterback or not, you can’t deny that he is a pretty decent guy. He graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 2008 as a 3 star player and went to play for Baylor University. He hasn’t forgotten where he came from as a few days ago he bought the entire Copperas Cove Bulldawgs football team brand new uniforms. This included everything, shirts, pants, shoes, girdles, you name it he bought it. He stated that you can never forget where you grew up! What a great guy all around.

Denver at Dallas

Wow, a great game from both teams today. Tony Romo didn’t make it easy for Peyton Manning and the Bronco’s as he had 5 touchdowns in the 51-48 game. Peyton had 4 touchdowns and threw 33-42 for 414 yards as Romo threw 23-36 for 506 yards. This was an incredibly close game and came down to the wire. Matt Prater finished the game off with a 28 yard field goal earning the bronco’s their fifth straight win. Broncos are now 5-0 and Dallas slid to 2-3. Romo tried hard to beat the record for most passing yards but fell short of the 554 goal by only 48 points. This was the fourth highest scoring game in NFL history. The broncos are still proving they are the team to beat this year and are looking great going into week 6.
