NFL Week 1

Football is back in full force this week. Anyone who’s not excited is lying, this is probably one of the best weeks of the year, right next to Christmas. Tonight is Steelers at Patriots, which is probably the most dramatic game we will have all year as Tom Brady steps into the game newly released from his “suspension” that didn’t really happen. It might be one of the most watched games this year and I can’t wait to see how the Patriots team handles this come back. I only hope for a great game from both teams and some serious sportsmanship because we need it, as fans, and the NFL needs it too. The Patriots are the strong favorite as Super Bowl Champs so I am sure it will be a good game.

On Sunday we have Colts at Bills, my vote is for the Colts. They are going to be coming in strong to make up for their terrible loss in the playoffs last year. We have Packers at Bears which, in my opinion, is the best game of the season. My vote is for Packers, despite the loss of Jordy Nelson, I think they are a strong team and will be able to pull out the win against the Bears in Chicago. We also have Chiefs at Texans and Panthers at Jaguars. If I had to place bets I would vote Texans and Panthers. I think JJ Watt is a phenomenal player and a great person all around and I would like to see him pull out the win with his team. Browns at Jets, not really looking forward to this game but my vote is for the Jets.

Seahwawks at Rams will be an interesting game. Rams were a weak team last year and Seattle was strong, however Rams pulled out the win in their game last season and it will be interesting to see what they do in this game. The Rams tend to play harder against teams in their division and I think they might pull out the win this game. Although the Seahawks are coming off the worst play in history of ever and are going to be trying to make up for it as the season starts. They need to do something so spectacular that it makes us forget about that Super Bowl.

Dolphins at Redskins, not much to say here, we will just have to wait and see. Saints at Cardinals will be a good game. Cardinals are coming off a great year that ended with so many injuries. I really hope they can do just as great this year and hopefully make it even further than last season.Lions at Chargers, I think the Lions will pull out the win. Ravens at Broncos, I think the Broncos will dominate this game. Bengals at Raiders. The Raiders are coming off one of the worst seasons in their history and I think they will be coming in hard to make up for it. Because they are in their hometown I think they will be able to pull out the win, or at least put up a good fight. Titans at Buccaneers, Giants at Cowboys, I think the Cowboys will win but I am secretly rooting for the Giants to pull the upset in Dallas.

Eagles at Falcons and Vikings at 49ers both finish out week 1 on Monday night. I think the Eagles will win in Atlanta and I think San Francisco will dominate in Minnesota. I can’t wait to see what actually happens and how my picks stood up. Do you see anything I am missing? Do you agree or disagree? Let me know in the comments below and I can’t wait to discuss what happens this weekend!

RG3

Whether you like the young quarterback or not, you can’t deny that he is a pretty decent guy. He graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 2008 as a 3 star player and went to play for Baylor University. He hasn’t forgotten where he came from as a few days ago he bought the entire Copperas Cove Bulldawgs football team brand new uniforms. This included everything, shirts, pants, shoes, girdles, you name it he bought it. He stated that you can never forget where you grew up! What a great guy all around.

NFL Week 4

In Atlanta the Patriots were able to hold off the Falcons for a 30-23 win. Tom Brady threw for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns bringing the team to 4-0, keeping them undefeated so far. The game was not an easy win as the Falcons were close to tying the game with only 36 seconds remaining, but luckily for New England they had cornerback Aqib Talb watching out and holding off a pass from Matt Ryan to Roddy White.

Buffalo Bills were able to skate by with a win against the Superbowl winners, the Baltimore Ravens, with a score of 23-20. Coming off of a loss proved well for the Bills as their angst was high to beat the Ravens. They were able to intercept Joe Flacco five times. Flacco finished with 25 of 50 for 347 yards and two touchdowns.

In Cleveland the Browns walked away with an easy 17-6 game against the Bengals. Both teams are now 2-2. Brian Hoyer proves he has what it takes to play starting quarterback with no interceptions and throwing for 25 of 38 for 269 yards.

The Lions beat Da Bears in Detroit with a 40-32 game, handing them their first loss and bringing both teams to 3-1, tying for first in the NFC North. The Lions looked strong scoring three touchdowns in a span of three minutes and twenty six seconds. Jay Cutler did his best to catch up near the end throwing a few touchdown passes and 2-point conversions but could not make it all the way.

Kansas City handed the New York Giants their fourth loss this season bringing them to 0-4. Eli Manning was 18 for 37 for 217 yards and had one touchdown. Smith was 24 for 41 for 288 yards.

In London the Vikings were able to take home their first win thanks to Greg Jennings and Adrian Peterson. The brought the Vikings to 1-3 and the Steelers to 0-4. Jennings and Peterson each scored two touchdowns. Despite winning the game Coach Frazier says he doesn’t expect Cassel to last forever in place of Christian Ponder.

In Tampa Bay the Cardinals had a major comeback to win the game with a 13-10 score. The Cardinals played poorly the first three quarters, partial thanks to the many injuries the team sustained after the loss in New Orleans.

The Colts annihilated the Jaguars in Jacksonville with a 37-3 score. Sure the Colts didn’t score in the first quarter but they made up for it in the next three. Luck completed 22 of 36 passes for 260 yards. The Jaguars are 0-4 and the Colts are 3-1 as we move into week 5.

Seahawks remaining undefeated this season with their most recent win against the Houston Texans. This is their first 4-0 start in franchise history. The game did end in over time with a 45 yard field goal from Hauschka. The Texans are now 2-2.

In Tennesse the Titans were able to have a huge win against the Jets but also a huge loss, their quarterback. Jake Locker threw three touchdowns before injuring his hip and having to go to the hospital. Titans won with a score of 38-13 bringing them to 3-1 and the Jets to 2-2.

Peyton Manning proves he is possibly the best quarterback there ever was with a score of 52-20 against Philadelphia, bringing the Bronco’s to 4-0 and the Eagles to 1-3. He has a total of 16 touchdowns in September beating out the previous record of 14 by Don Meredith.

In Oakland, RGIII and the Redskins were able to hold off the Raiders for a 24-14 win. This is the Redskins second away win since 1991, maybe there is hope after all.

In San Diego the Chargers held off the Cowboys for a 30-21 win, bringing both teams to 2-2. Rivers threw for 401 yards and three touchdowns and completed 35 of 42 passes.

San Francisco 49ers pummeled the St. Louis Rams in a 35-11 game. This brought the 49ers to 2-2 and the Rams to 1-3. Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes and Frank Gore had his first 100 yard game of the season.

Pre-Season NFL Week 1

As pre-season is now underway let’s take a look at how some of the first games went, and who is looking hot for your fantasy draft.

The Baltimore Ravens dominated against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 44-16 game this week. Tyrod Taylor starting his third season in the NFL shined for the ravens with 154 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Cincinatti Bengals triumphed over the Atlanta Falcons in a 34-10 game. Fans are really showing a liking to Bengals quarterback Josh Johnson.

Brandon Weeden looking hot in Cleveland led the Browns in a 27-19 win over the St. Louis Rams. He has not secured a starting position but this game definitely showed he has what it takes to succeed as a starter.

Robert Griffin III sat on the sidelines of Thursday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Kirk Cousins continued to dominate in the place of RG3 and led the Redskins to a 22-21 win over the Titans.

In San Francisco there was only one touchdown this week and that was by Shaun Phillips of the Denver Broncos. In what seemed like a sloppy game with many fumbles the Broncos came out on top with a 10-6 win over the 49ers.

In San Diego there was tough competition from Seattle as Tarvaris Jackson and Brady Quinn battle to be Russell Wilson’s backup. Jackson threw two touchdown passes and Quinn threw one leading the Seahawks to a 31-10 win over the San Diego Chargers.

The New York Jets flew to Detroit only to get pummeled by the Lions in a 26-17 game. Geno Smith of the Jets walked out with an apparent knee injury.

Jonas Gray, a Notre Dame alumni, of the Miami Dolphins is looking great in his first season. Scoring two touchdowns of the four total against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dolphins win over the Jaguars with a 27-3 scoring game.

Michael Vick looking sharp on Friday with the Philadelphia Eagles, completing 4 of 5 passes for 94 yards, could not compare to Tom Brady’s 80 yard touchdown pass.

Chicago Bears offense looked weak in Friday’s game against the Carolina Panthers allowing for seven sacks and three turnovers. Panthers squashed the bears in a 24-17 game.

Friday night the Cardinals “grated cheese” in Green Bay and shut out the Packers with a 17-0 win. Players looking good this game were Stepfan taylor for the Cardinals who rushed for 63 yards on 21 carries and James Jones of the Packers.

The Houston Texans dominated the Minnesota Vikings Friday with a 27-13 win. Cordarelle Patterson looking great in his rookie season caught four passes for 54 yards and returned the opening kickoff 50 yards. DeAndre Hopkins showcased his skills, had four receptions for 52 yards and scored a touchdown.

Preston Parker of the New Orleans Saints scored two touchdowns showing why he is a good choice for the open receiver position. The Saint’s defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in a 17-13 game. Alex Smith made coach Reid happy about his decision of choosing him to be the Chiefs new quarterback.

In a back and forth game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Oakland Raiders, the raiders beat the cowboys in a 19-17 game.

Victor Cruz and Eli Manning make a great team for the New York Giants. The ley the Giants in an 18-13 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Victor Cruz is looking like a great choice for Fantasy this year.
